So, as part of doing this blog, I’ve been watching a lot of anime and really thinking about what I find good, and what I don’t, and more importantly, why I feel these ways. Today, in particular, instead of watching any particular anime, I’ve been watching a series of AMVs by Youtube Channel AnimeUnity.
One thing that has come from this introspection is the realization that a lot of why I love the series that I do is because as horrible as things might be in Mirai Nikki (Future Diary) or how painful the ending of Clannad and Air are, in the end, the world itself is just so much simpler than our world here. Things are more cut and dry, and frankly, there’s often a lot less moral grey and whatnot. They’re worlds to retreat to, worlds that we’re rather live in, and that’s part of what makes them compelling.
I’m not really sure where I’m going with this one, or if I even really have a point, but it was an observation while I’m chained to my cube. Perhaps one day we’ll all find a little less grey in our own lives, and a little bit more happy.
